```
CLIENT subcommand [argument ...]
```

- Group: Connection
- HotKV Cloud: all plans
- On-Premise: no license needed

`CLIENT` is a container command. Its subcommands identify and configure the
current connection, list and close other connections, and pause command
processing. `CLIENT HELP` lists the subcommands.

## Subcommands

| Subcommand | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| [CLIENT ID](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-id/index.md) | The current connection's id. |
| [CLIENT INFO](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-info/index.md) | One line describing the current connection. |
| [CLIENT LIST](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-list/index.md) | One line per client connection, optionally filtered. |
| [CLIENT SETNAME](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-setname/index.md) | Name the current connection. |
| [CLIENT GETNAME](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-getname/index.md) | The current connection's name. |
| [CLIENT SETINFO](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-setinfo/index.md) | Record the client library's name and version. |
| [CLIENT KILL](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-kill/index.md) | Close connections by address or by filters. |
| [CLIENT PAUSE](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-pause/index.md) | Hold all commands, or only writes, for a while. |
| [CLIENT UNPAUSE](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-unpause/index.md) | End a pause early. |
| [CLIENT UNBLOCK](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-unblock/index.md) | End another connection's blocking command. |
| [CLIENT REPLY](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-reply/index.md) | Turn replies to the current connection off, on, or skip one. |
| [CLIENT NO-EVICT](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-no-evict/index.md) | Exempt the current connection from eviction when clients hold more than `maxmemory-clients`. |
| [CLIENT NO-TOUCH](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-no-touch/index.md) | Read keys without updating their last access time. |
| [CLIENT TRACKING](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-tracking/index.md) | Turn client-side caching on or off: HotKV tells the connection when a key it read changes. |
| [CLIENT TRACKINGINFO](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-trackinginfo/index.md) | The client-side caching state of the current connection. |
| [CLIENT CACHING](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-caching/index.md) | Choose whether the keys of the next command are tracked, in `OPTIN` or `OPTOUT` mode. |
| [CLIENT GETREDIR](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/client-getredir/index.md) | The connection the invalidations go to. |

An unknown subcommand gets `ERR unknown subcommand '<name>'. Try CLIENT HELP.`,
and a wrong number of arguments gets
`ERR wrong number of arguments for 'client|<subcommand>' command`.

## Compatibility

HotKV has the `CLIENT` subcommands of Redis 7, including server-assisted
client-side caching (`TRACKING`, `TRACKINGINFO`, `CACHING` and `GETREDIR`). See
[client-side caching](https://docs.hotkv.com/develop/client-side-caching/index.md). Clients can be evicted
when they hold more than `maxmemory-clients`; see
[memory and eviction](https://docs.hotkv.com/operate/memory-and-eviction/index.md#client-memory).
