# COMMAND LIST

> List every command and subcommand name, optionally filtered by ACL category or pattern.

URL: https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/command-list/

```
COMMAND LIST [FILTERBY MODULE module-name | ACLCAT category | PATTERN pattern]
```

- Group: Server
- Complexity: O(N) where N is the number of commands
- HotKV Cloud: all plans
- On-Premise: no license needed

`COMMAND LIST` returns the name of every command, in lower case. Each
subcommand is listed as well, as `container|subcommand` (for example
`config|get`), which is the form ACL rules use.

## Options

| Filter | Lists |
| --- | --- |
| `FILTERBY ACLCAT category` | Commands in this ACL category, for example `dangerous` (without the `@`). |
| `FILTERBY PATTERN pattern` | Names matching this glob-style pattern, for example `client*`. |
| `FILTERBY MODULE module-name` | Nothing: HotKV has no modules. |

Category and pattern are matched case-insensitively. An unknown category
lists nothing. A filter with a missing or extra argument, or an unknown
filter type, gets `ERR syntax error`.

## Return value

An array of bulk strings, in RESP2 and RESP3. The order is not significant.

## Examples

```
127.0.0.1:6379> COMMAND LIST FILTERBY PATTERN slowlog*
1) "slowlog"
2) "slowlog|export"
3) "slowlog|get"
4) "slowlog|help"
5) "slowlog|len"
6) "slowlog|reset"
127.0.0.1:6379> COMMAND LIST FILTERBY MODULE search
(empty array)
```

## Compatibility

Same filters and reply as Redis 7 and Valkey 8. HotKV's own commands are
listed too, and HotKV adds the ACL categories `bloom`, `cms`, `topk` and
`timeseries`; see [ACL CAT](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/acl-cat/index.md).
