# SLAVEOF

> Deprecated alias of REPLICAOF.

URL: https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/slaveof/

```
SLAVEOF NO ONE
SLAVEOF host port
```

- Group: Server
- HotKV Cloud: all plans
- On-Premise: no license needed
- Deprecated: use REPLICAOF instead

`SLAVEOF` is the old name of [REPLICAOF](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/replicaof/index.md) and behaves
exactly like it: `SLAVEOF NO ONE` promotes a replica to primary, and
`SLAVEOF host port` makes the server a replica of the HotKV server at that
address. See [REPLICAOF](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/replicaof/index.md) for the replies.

## Return value

The same as [REPLICAOF](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/replicaof/index.md).

## Examples

```
10.0.0.6:6379> SLAVEOF NO ONE
OK
```

In HotKV Cloud, the CLI tab of the panel does not run `SLAVEOF`.

## Compatibility

Kept for older clients, as in Redis 7 and Valkey 8, with the same
differences as [REPLICAOF](https://docs.hotkv.com/commands/replicaof/index.md).
