Agent memory gives AI agents four kinds of memory. Conversation memory keeps the recent turns of a chat session as a bounded sliding window: when a session holds its maximum number of turns, appending a new turn drops the oldest. AMEM.CONV.CREATE creates a session. You must create it before you append turns with AMEM.CONV.APPEND.

Options

Option Effect
WINDOW turns The most turns the session keeps. Omitted or 0 uses the server default, max_conv_turns under [agent_memory] (100 unless you change it).
TTL seconds The session ends after this many seconds: later appends answer ERR session not found. Omitted or 0 uses the server default, amem.default-ttl.

Errors:

  • ERR session already exists if the session exists.

  • ERR invalid WINDOW or ERR invalid TTL if the value is not a non-negative integer. No session is created.

  • ERR wrong number of arguments for 'amem.conv.create' command if the argument count is wrong.

  • NOLICENSE agent-memory requires a HotKV license. Contact sales@hotkv.com if your license does not include the agent-memory feature.
